Generik - Hand Over Your Mouth

My guy Doug at Quennect4 is part of Giant Squid Records, a label out of Cali. Here’s a new single from one of their artist’s Generik. It’s from his album For
Those Who Know - emerging from the briny deep January 19th on Giant
Squid Records. I’m diggin the bass and switchups. Lyricism reminds me of early Eyedea, making me nostalgic of my highschool/early college days.

So Fly Final Mix

neoclectic:

Well… There’s only one reason I decided to start blogging.  That’s so I can share my thoughts and my music with all of y’all.  So here’s the latest single I did with Tony V.  It’s called So Fly featuring OFoeSho, off of the Silver Jones mixtape.  MADD props to Jason Badower for creating the artwork.

Download the mixtape here:

I went to college with John Baldivia (aka JB) and he was always on top of his singing, songwriting and guitar skills. I used to show him a beat I made and he’d go back and replay the whole thing (sample chops and all) for me in no time. It’s real good to see him continue to do big things musically. Peep this radio worthy cut he recently put out!

Cort Guitar Worker’s stories

Here’s something any musician who has ever used a Fender, Gibson, G&L, ESP and/or Ibanez guitar should know about. Inhumane labor around the world is on most people’s radar to the point that sometimes it’s the bud of a joke, and this example’s no different. Cort, the manufacturers behind many guitars has a history of treating it’s workers like shit while the CEO is the 125th richest guy in the world. A global movement is picking up to let it be known. Being musically related, I think it motivates artists and musicians to get loud and do something about it and will bring more light to the bigger picture. It’s important to relate it to the problem of those with a craft getting fucked over by those with business sense be it jeans or guitars. Makes me wonder about who pieced together all the gear I use to make music. So what’s up Chicago? Let’s do an event…

Nneka ft Jay Electronica - Walking

I’ve been really into Jay Electronica since DJ Veracious turned me onto Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind. Recently found out about Nneka who has some dope solo songs herself. This collab is nice.

Bitone - All is Full of Love (Bjork cover)

While looking for NPOs to feature for the first Music is the Weapon, I got introduced to Project Focus. They’re a great group that brings empowerment and positivity to the people in Uganda through music, funds and media advocacy. One of their projects was recording a CD of local musicians in Uganda called The Bitone Troupe. I copped the CD and this is my favorite one of their tracks. Buy their CD here as it comes with really cool packaging and the purchase supports their cause. I really hope to collaborate with them in the future.

Metal and rock covers, scored on to sheet music and replayed on piano. SICK

Radiohead’s “Creep” played well by a random dude.
