Lord Cobra y Los Hermanos Duncan - Love Letters
One of the many many gems I found while digging in New Orleans. I mainly found stuff at Peaches and Domino Sound but really want to go back to hit up Rock n Roll Collectibles. This is from Panama.

Mod Dance Party New Orleans
First day in New Orleans, while getting some records and local rap at Peaches we got tipped off about a party at a spot called Saturn Bar around the 9th ward. We really didn’t know what to expect and it turned out to be a crazy-fun, no bullshit, all vinyl “mod party” (40s-50s-60s psych/rock/funk/soul). Packed in a dive with a bunch of interesting paintings and a cool balcony, people were going nuts to the likes of The Mighty Hannibal, Mongo Santamaria, early Beatles, the Ramones and more. The DJs were snapping hard, a girl almost fell off a balcony, everyone was mad friendly and I found out where to go digging today. The Mod Party crew are holding it down, playing events around the Louisiana area. I hope to see/book them in Chicago someday soon. If you’re in New Orleans look for this party!!!
Intentions from the newest album, Rules, from Whitest Boy Alive. As fresh as this band already was, they rounded the electronic edges with addition of Daniel Nentwig, full time on the Rhodes and Crumar (italian synthesizer). Now my heart melts even more with its funky drums, and my head sways softly from side to side with the smoothness of it all.
D’Angelo - Everybody Loves the Sunshine (Roy Ayers cover)
Though it’s impossible to top the original, D’Angelo does a good job flipping this cut yet keeping its essence. Stay warm out there!
Tall Black Guy - Hollyweird beat tape
I remember first seeing Tall Black Guy when he won the Red Bull Big Tune beat battle a few years back. Been following a bit ever since and heard he recently moved out west. Here’s one of his mixtapes showing how the freshcoast’s flavor is influencing his already thorough production skills.
Generik - Hand Over Your Mouth
My guy Doug at Quennect4 is part of Giant Squid Records, a label out of Cali. Here’s a new single from one of their artist’s Generik. It’s from his album For
Those Who Know - emerging from the briny deep January 19th on Giant
Squid Records. I’m diggin the bass and switchups. Lyricism reminds me of early Eyedea, making me nostalgic of my highschool/early college days.

Flava Flav - I’ll Never Let You Go
Was just a matter of time…
Well… There’s only one reason I decided to start blogging. That’s so I can share my thoughts and my music with all of y’all. So here’s the latest single I did with Tony V. It’s called So Fly featuring OFoeSho, off of the Silver Jones mixtape. MADD props to Jason Badower for creating the artwork.

I went to college with John Baldivia (aka JB) and he was always on top of his singing, songwriting and guitar skills. I used to show him a beat I made and he’d go back and replay the whole thing (sample chops and all) for me in no time. It’s real good to see him continue to do big things musically. Peep this radio worthy cut he recently put out!
Cort Guitar Worker’s stories
Here’s something any musician who has ever used a Fender, Gibson, G&L, ESP and/or Ibanez guitar should know about. Inhumane labor around the world is on most people’s radar to the point that sometimes it’s the bud of a joke, and this example’s no different. Cort, the manufacturers behind many guitars has a history of treating it’s workers like shit while the CEO is the 125th richest guy in the world. A global movement is picking up to let it be known. Being musically related, I think it motivates artists and musicians to get loud and do something about it and will bring more light to the bigger picture. It’s important to relate it to the problem of those with a craft getting fucked over by those with business sense be it jeans or guitars. Makes me wonder about who pieced together all the gear I use to make music. So what’s up Chicago? Let’s do an event…
