Pizza, music, friends and other cool things.

Same for me - tho I didn’t get too much into Wing Commander..was more an X-wing typa guy. And I dropped video games soon as I got turntables.

mattryd:

I’d really like to take a one-to-two-week-long vacation, check into an Embassy Suites with a laptop, and just replay this entire series.  Interspersed, of course, with the games from this series:

…as well as pretty much every other adventure game that Sierra released in the 90s.

I more or less stopped playing videogames when I started playing guitar.  Obviously, I don’t regret that decision at all.  But every once in a while, I have an overwhelming desire to regress to my childhood and play story-driven adventure and action games on a small CRT monitor.

DJ Demchuck - Midwest Best Vol 3 mixtape

DJ Demchuck - Midwest Best Vol 3 Mixtape

I’ve had the pleasure of working with Dan aka DJ Demchuck on a variety of events and he always comes through with something fresh be it on vinyl, CDs or mp3. One of the hardest working DJs I know around Chicago, amongst all his gigs, he still has time for graphic design and mixtapes. Here’s his latest. Peep it!

Soul Fiesta - HipHop scene in the Philippines

I worked with some of these artists back in High School when we were just randomly freestyling, sending beats around and keeping things low key. It’s really dope to see how far they’ve got with “Turbulence Productions” holding down a very true-school scene out there. This vid by Arkane sums up the current status pretty well:

Props to all my hiphop heads out there B-Rocc, Nimbus9, Chrizo, Arkane, Komplex and the rest of the Turbulence Crew!

Michael’s Pizzeria and Tavern
It’s been too long! Though I have had a few pizzas in the past month or so, I’ve been cutting down on consumption in general. Still trying to work out putting in exercise between my day job and DJing/producing music so in the meantime, can’t holler at pizza as much as I’d like. Anyways, I peeped this Michael’s Pizzeria and Tavern on at 4091 N Broadway Ave last night, and ate it right away so had to snag a picture from their website. I was expecting quite a bit from some reviews and they came through. The thin crust was a little thicker than others (almost Pompei) and the cheese/sauce combo reminded me of Gigio’s which makes for a very good pizza and a good switch up when ordering around the neighborhood. Looking forward to trying out their deep dish and stuffed!

I met this beatsmith during a scratch session where we got to do a little back and forth ourselves with me on drums and him laying down samples. It was fun as hell and I hope to do it again. Dude’s got a dope style—gritty drums, obscure and/or soulful samples and an overall hypnotic vibe with the beats. peep!
